Scent is connected to emotion, so the right scent can help you relax and de-stress. Use some scented candles around your home and in your bedroom. These can really make a huge difference. If you don't like the idea of burning candles, you can also try an electric oil diffuser that uses scented oils, or a reed diffuser that scents the air without even electricity.
Be careful with this next tip because you don't want to overdo it and give yourself something else to stress about but if you indulge in moderation, go on and eat some comfort food. Find healthy but satisfying recipes for foods that will be soothing to you.
Grab a good book that you will enjoy and read it. Don't read something that you need to read for work, or something that you feel like you should' read. The goal is to enjoy the experience. You want to read something that you will get into and forget about what is stressing you.
Meditate regularly, every day if you can. A practice of regular meditation will help reduce your stress level quickly and dramatically. You may be thinking that there is no way you can fit meditation in every day. Remember it doesn't have to be very long, even 20 minutes will help a great deal and you can do this practice right when you wake up or else right before you go to sleep.
Doing these suggested techniques regularly will make a big difference in how stressful your life is. You'll find you are more relaxed than you ever thought was possible.
