, one will need to complete three steps. These would be a phlebotomist certification a post secondary education and finally experience in this field of work. Furthermore, there would also be a written exam required. This type of work involves taking tests to test blood. It can also be for the purposes of drawing blood from blood donors. Another name for this is a venipuncturist.
The states in America all have different requirements in terms of levels of achievement for this certificate. While there is not a legal requirement for this, common sense tells one that it is handy for the purposes of acquiring work. This shows that the candidate has some level of experience.
Courses may be taken online. Three American associations are responsible for this industry. They share the same set of values, but the details of their certification vary slightly.
It could take anything from 4-8 months to complete a course. Forty hours of practical is required before completion. The practical training involves drawing blood on 1000 different occasions. The exam is the final step of the process. The theoretical section involves human anatomy, the circulatory system, processing of specimen and laboratory procedures.
Upon completion, the applicant will receive a certificate of achievement. Such a qualification will go a long way to helping the new qualifier to obtain a job in the field. It is suggested that one find an association approved training institution with which to study. Unless the institution is endorsed, one might have difficulty obtaining a job. Employers will prefer a qualification from an endorsed institution.
There is a clinical practice component to all the training programs that are available. One can obtain this experience by working at a nursing home, a doctor's office or a hospital. While this is happening, the student will be placed under the supervision of someone who is qualified. After a certain period, the supervisor will write an evaluation report on the student. This will be placed on file and will be conveyed to the program consolidator.
Once the student has graduated, a written exam will be required by all three of the associations. These exams will cover all necessary components of the job description. Once this is completed, the student will receive a certificate.
Many people who complete the Phlebotomist Certification Program go one to even bigger things within the medical fraternity. There are many other forms of medicine that one can choose to do. When this decision has been made, one would need to study and pass the appropriate medical course that he or she has chosen.
