Medical Transcription--a Perfect Way To Supplement My Income

I would like to become a medical transcriptionist because I already work in the medical

field as a CNA, and feel that medical transcription at home would be a perfect way to supplement my income. I am recently divorced, with 50/50 custody of our two children. The flexibility of being able to work at home would mean I can be at home with them after school, allowing me to care for them while also allowing me to earn additional income. Their dad is grudgingly helpful regarding their school and activity related expenses, and I would like to be able to say yes to more Boy Scout campouts and school social events and extracurricular activities, including sports. Theres nothing worse than telling your child you cant send him to camp with his friends because we just cant afford it right now.

The main advantages I see to working medical transcription jobs at home are the schedule flexibility, ability to work from home, and the ability to work as much or as little as I want/need. Juggling the schedules of two children, myself, and struggling to work with an inflexible ex-husband is a challenge, not having to spend a lot of time commuting would make a world of difference in my ability to pick up extra work. Committing to a part-time job after working my regular full time job is a lot to take on, with clothing changes and clean-up time, travel time, and no option to alter the schedule should an emergency arise. If my fearless child needs to go to Urgent Care, I couldnt do that without jeopardizing my job in a part-time, local based place.

With medical transcription, it would work out that I could complete the work upon returning home, allowing a versatility I need. Ideally, it would allow me steady income sufficient to leave my full-time CNA position, allowing even more flexibility and the opportunity to become more involved with my childrens schools and outside activities. I was searching online for MT training and jobs, and as I was looking at MT Recruiters website I saw the link to Future MT and decided to check into the program. The possibility of a scholarship and the ability to train from home, at my own pace, with the required books and equipment provided were the main draws in deciding to submit my information and apply for the scholarship. I am working at saving up the funds to manage the course fee, and a scholarship would certainly go a long way toward getting me there, if not all the way in with a full scholarship. SN:0TG9Y2ESY

I currently work with brain injury and osteopathic rehabilitation patients, and am a Certified Brain Injury Specialist, thanks to my employers willingness to pay for the training and testing. I would like to specialize in MT in the fields of Neurology and/ osteopathic medicine, although cardiology also fascinates me. I am hoping to become a Certified Medical Transcriptionist, maintain my skills and work steadily as a medical transcriptionist. I feel that medical transcription is a skill I could carry with me through life, maintaining the need to stay current with changes and advances in medicine, medical care, and transcription itself. It is a portable skill, meaning even if I move, I can maintain current employer/employee relationships as distance generally is not a factor for transcription. I am looking forward to beginning my training, and taking that first step toward a new career.
