Our present day and age offers a variety of technological development designed for

almost each position of our lives, like in the case of medicine and our health. Although at times many believe it is needless to be knowledgeable in the aspects of human life matters, it is however important to know how it all started. For additional awareness and the greater appreciation of these developments.

Medicine is like other things whose beginning we are not aware of, with the exception of medically-aware individuals. Illnesses has always been one of the major concerns for all living beings. As early as prehistoric times and in the ancient civilizations, infections have then wrought havoc on humans so primeval were instigated to look for medications.

Prehistoric Medicine integrated plant lives in treating ailments, which we now acknowledge as herbalism. Priests, Shamans and medical men of that time period also used animal parts and minerals as an integral part of rituals asking the spirits to cure their sicknesses. These people are similar to the medical doctors of now.

Considered highly advanced for that time is the practice of medicine in Ancient Egypt. While 'magic' was mainly consisted in medications, the ancient Egyptian physicians discovered medical knowledge became responsible for its great reputation of the civilization. Some information concerning human anatomy was identified by the Egyptians such as in their classic mummification process. Egyptian physicians already had the idea about the pulse and its connection to the heart. Ancient Babylonia is perhaps the place of math's emergence, but this ancient culture also initiated known medical practices. There were two kinds of people who dealt with the medicine in Ancient Babylonia, the 'asu' (doctor) and 'dsipu' (exorcist). When a patient was sick, the asu would administer cream, pills and bandages; but if there was no sign of recovery, exorcism was then executed to rid the body of any curse. If the patient is seriously ailed, operation even of the greatly sensitive part such as the eyes was completed. It was indeed excellent of the knowledge held by the Babylonians, they were keen to the mechanisms of the human and animal body and learned about the pulse and blood's circulation.

Written 3000 years ago was a book about Ancient Chinese medicine documenting that the preserving health and life's nourishment must be done before a person even gets sick. Which was the way of the ancient Chinese's healing that is focused on preventions for the healthy instead of on the sick. The technique of analysis was established on an 'Outside-to-Inside' process where the internal conditions are inferred from observing outside facts. The equilibrium of yin and yang, alleged by the ancient Chinese healing, makes the completeness and synchronization in the body. An imbalance of our life values therefore caused illnesses.
