One of the most popular night-time areas is The Jetty which is a complex that has several fine dining restaurants, trendy cafs and, in true Asian tradition, plenty of karaoke bars. A standout venue in this complex is Arena, a nightspot surrounded by a glass wall and with a big stage for live acts. Also in the central town area is the Bay Lounge & Terrace, a popular venue at a famous Melaka hotel that has a 4-piece Filipino band that entertains guests enjoying the superb selection of drinks and snacks.
Melaka even has its own street party scene on Jonker Walk Night Market. After hours the market closes for traffic and when the sun goes down a couple of bars that line the boulevard open, transforming Jonker Street into a mini street party with tables on the street and lively music filling the market. One of the more interesting bars on Jonker Street is the Libar Cocktail House; word has it that this bar offers the widest range of cocktails in all of Malaysia plus good music and a wide range of other drinks.
