Melotti And Geometrico Works Are On Display At Mart

Mart is the museum of contemporary art of Trento and Rovereto; it is situated few kilometres far from the province of Verona

. It is one of the major museums of contemporary arts in Italy, founded in 1987, now it hosts more than 15.000 permanent works. For 25 years the museum collection, coming from the independent province of Trento and the town of Rovereto, has been increased thanks to the rigorous acquisition and legacy. Mart includes three locations: the home Depero of Futurist art, the palace of Albere in Trento and the Rovereto Museum designed by the architect Mario Botta.

In this period Mart Rovereto does not display its permanent collection, but it hosts various exhibitions. As a matter of fact, it usually organizes the museum by staging different works in rotation depending on the themes of the collection.

It is possible to book the entrance directly on line. Moreover, on the website all the works of the permanent collection are available together with descriptions and images. And if you are an expert on this field, there is the possibility to borrow a masterpiece for an exhibition, by filling-in the form.

Some of the 3000 works of Fortunato Depero (the artist gives the works to the city of Rovereto), forms one of the most important area of the holding of this art gallery Italy in Rovereto, together with the work of futurist authors: Giacomo Balla, Gino Severini, Tommaso Filippo Marinetti and Enrico Rampolini.

In Italy, the 20th century is symbolized by many important works, such as the Giovanardi collection, which is part of the museum since 1997, with works of Osvaldo Licini, Filippo de Pisis and a collection of 21 pictures of Giorgio Morandi. This collection includes also works of authors that lived during the time between the two world wars, such as: Gino Severini, Giorgio de Chirico, Achille Funi and Alberto Savino and the abstract works of Fusto Melotti or Luciano Fontana dated back to the Second World War.

In these days Mart is hosting two important exhibitions: the first one of Fausto Melotti and Angelico Geometrico, and the second one: Con gli occhi, con il cuore, con la testa la fotografia della collezione Trevisan.

The Melotti and Geometrico works are a futurist exposition, focused on the works of Melotti developed during the sixties and on the major works of Geometrico. The works on display are 100 and they are in comparison with masterpieces of various artists: De Chirico, Castellani, Marini or Nevelson. The works on display will be at the museum till 30th September.

On the other hand, Trevisan collection, is composed of 250 works, 200 of them are on display at Mart; this collection is one of the great photographic galleries in Italy. It is characterized by the variety of the subjects of the photos: nature, city or portrait. The chronology scale is really wide as well: from the daguerreotypes to the photos of Vanessa Beecroft. The collection will remain at the Mart till 9th September.
