Men Take Better Care Of Their Cars Than Their Own Bodies

? Men at more at risk for big killer diseases like heart disease and cancer and are twice as likely to keel over as women. As our personal odometer ticks upwards our risks of heart and head bombs that can shatter our lives increases and to keep in this game of life we have to prepare our body to perform and that includes a proper exercise program that contains mostly strength training exercise.
By the time a man gets to the big 4-0 he will be noticing some changes that he may not like. For starters he will be shrinking as the fluid filled discs in the spine become more like dried out sponges reducing height by around 1 inches by the time a man reaches age 60. Next is the biggie - loss of muscle tissue from age 30.
This loss is around one half pound per year, if you are sedentary - much less if you work your muscles. You will also gain around 2.6 pounds of body fat each year as the loss of muscle dials the metabolic rate down so the body can no longer burn all of the food eaten so it is stored as fat. The weight on the bathroom scales may stay the same as the fat is hidden in the spaces that the muscle has been lost from.
Men in their 50's start to get joint problems, you know the ones. That tricky knee, bad back or the old shoulder suddenly starts acting up. The problem is usually the loss of the strengthening, supporting and protecting affect of strong muscles around the joints. As muscle tissue is lost the entire skeleton loses support and things start to sag on to each other causing more wear and tear, stooped posture and often pain and stiffness.
Middle aged men's health decline has become almost epidemic and no one seems to care, not even men. The average man now-a-days dies seven years before the average woman but back in the early 1900's women only had a one year longer life expectancy. Men's health has become less of a priority to themselves over the decades and between the ages of 45 and 65 years is a danger zone which puts them at particular risk as around eighty percent of them are overweight.
They also have a number of problems that prevent them from getting into better physical shape. Inactivity, sedentary behavior, laziness, apathy and denial are some issues that are a one way ticket to middle age male destruction. They have double the chance of dying from heart disease than women as they have a risk of falling into a sedentary lifestyle by 40-50 percent.
Somehow men think that adopting healthier habits is not a masculine thing which may explain their pretty much non existent proper exercise habits and poor food quality selection. Many think that stuff is a feminine issue and they don't seem to consider their health a priority in their lives. Combine that with a blokes 'she'll be right' attitude and you have a ticking time bomb. They take better care of their cars than themselves and you would think they would have figured out by now that this is not a good health care plan.
Surely it is far easier to keep strong and fit with a simple strength training program 2-3 times each week. The thought of having to go into a nursing home sometime in the future cause you can't take care of yourself should be a motivating factor in getting your butt into the gym and onto a proper program
You need to take some responsibility for your own health and well-being rather than leaving it up to family, friends or the community to sort it out because you have not taken care of business. It is your business and your health and the old saying here is never more appropriate 'use it or lose it' and if you cannot move properly, you can not do anything but lie around and wait for the final event. If you value your life, proper exercise should be your very highest priority.
