Mens Ballet Unitards Are Back In Fashion!

My first real memory of men in dancing were that of the characters in the movie Fame

. I recall seeing the men running around in a variety of dancewear which started of a mad craze of street wear in the 1980's that included brightly coloured leg warmers and fingerless gloves along with tights and baggy shirts covering a ballet unitard. I don't suppose there were a lot of men prior to that movie that would have dreamed of running around in a ballet unitard as a regular occurrence however this movie seemed to bring to light the changing views of men in dance. It also showed a more edgy side to dance that made it more acceptable or even trendy.

With ballet being the best form of dance to teach you core dance moves that help improve your balance and poise, it stood to reason that use of a ballet unitard as part of the dancers wardrobe, regardless of the type of dance, would seem highly acceptable. And people then began to become very creative in how they wore their dancewear. The colours and styles became more bold and daring and what previously may have been considered womens wear, suddenly found itself in a mans wardrobe. The clothing seemed to give a new life to some men allow them to explore their creative side in an industry that may not have always been accepting of the strength of presence that men had within it.

With the insurgence of dance and the style that began to sweep the country, more and more men began to shop for dancewear of all descriptions. And as with any new fashion craze, as quickly as it came in, it soon began to fade. However the dancewear industry had learned that it needed to begin to cater to a more demanding group of people. A ballet unitard is a core purchase for any serious dancer, led some companies to look at the products they were currently providing and expand what they could offer. Men wanted to know that the products they would be investing in would not only last and give good value for money, but that they would suit them individually. There are now many companies that offer quality ballet unitard products for men.

And now some twenty years on I look around and see that the style from the 1980's that had affected me so dramatically has now begun its rebirth. With dancewear products as popular as ever it is still very common to see someone walking down the street in some form of dancewear. It has therefore become a very lucrative yet competitive business. It is important that if you are going to be purchasing dancewear items, you ensure the company you are purchasing from is reputable along with providing quality clothing so as to get the best value for your money. With the variety and choice that is now available you will surely be able to purchase items that will suit any taste.
