Believe it or not, watches have been around for over 500 hundred years

Being one of the first of a handful of watch companies, the goal was to make wrist watches available to the masses. Within a few years of incorporation, the company was able to build its first factory. The company now employs over 3,000 people worldwide and exports its products around the globe.

By 1956, they turned the industry upside down as the first Japanese company to create a 'shock resistant' watch. This was no small task; it was a monumental event that created opportunity for an all new level of mens luxury watch technology. What we take for granted today actually changed the way watches were used. Just three short years later the company performed another first with a watch that resisted water.

As time sped by, the company moved forward with its goal of exporting its product to China. During the next decade export growth continued with an agreement to ship to the United States. As a technology leader they produced a diver's watch; the worlds first watch with the ability to detect depth electronically.

Over the next few decades watches began to become more than just a way to tell time. They became a fashion statement and a wearable work of art. Today we see watches selling for thousands of dollars; making a clear statement to the value of wrist gear. During all this time, this corporate marvel kept setting the standard for quality and innovation. Dedicated designers and engineers created the thinnest liquid crystal display watch. Following right behind that breakthrough, the thinnest light powered watch was created, eliminating the need for winding or batteries.

These types of breakthroughs not only led the industry in technology but continue to help the environment as well. The company was awarded the first ever 'Eco Mark' approval for its light powered watches. This type of branding distinguishes the watch company as being proactive in its efforts to protect the environment. Creating watches that reduce waste that normally would end up in landfills.
