Men's Skin Care - How To Look Good For The Job And The Girl
Not too many years ago, you rarely heard a word about men's skin care
. It seemed like there was a stigma surrounding men who actually wanted to take care of themselves. So, men were forced to use women's cleansers, and take care of their skin in secret.
Times have changed however. With the volatility in the job market, more and more men are being forced to maintain the appearance of youth in order to find work. Also, as new men's skin care products come on the market, they are advertised as making them more attractive to the opposite sex. A prospect no man can refuse.
These new products on the market are a welcome addition. Men's skin does differ from women's. And they deserve products catered directly at them.
But, while their skin may be different, the steps to better complexion are very similar. As are some of the causes of damage.
Just like in females, the first step in males skin care is in cleansing. Men need to first remove the dirt, oils and other pollutants that cause the pores to clog.
Men's skin is actually thicker than that on woman, so it tends to be oilier. It also has larger pores and they have more active sebaceous glands, which contribute to oil build up as well. This oil needs to be removed.
However, just because a men's skin does have this natural moisture, doesn't mean that he is clear from the problems of dryness. This is due mostly to the daily routine of shaving.
Certain shaving products and after shave contain alcohol, which has a drying affect. So, it should be avoided.
Also, you should choose shaving products which are formulated to your individual needs. Some men have oilier skin than others. Use a good quality razor, shaving cream or gel and then aftershave.
When shaving, be careful and gentle. You want to use a smooth motion and a soft touch to remove the hair, and not cut yourself.
Finally, after your shaving routine, your skin needs to be protected. While males may be less susceptible to skin cancer than woman, it does still happen. You are also just as at risk for other damage caused by UV rays. So, it pays to always use a sunscreen, preferably one aimed at men.
The steps to good skin care for males are similar to female care. It's a matter of cleaning well, using the correct products when shaving and then protecting the skin.
But, the products you need to use are different and are formulated for men. Don't just borrow your girlfriend or wife's skin care products. Purchase ones that are aimed at your skin type.
They will help to give you a younger appearance while allowing you to continue feeling masculine while using them.
The job market and dating markets are both very competitive. You owe it to yourself to give yourself every advantage possible. Looking good starts with good men's skin care.
