Sports are a popular thing in Miami; most people here participate in some sort of physical activities to benefit their health
. Since it's one of the most superficial cities in the USA it only makes sense that people are trying to stay healthy. There are loads of things to do when it comes to exercise here, the most popular activities are running and swimming. Since Miami is surrounded by so much water so it's easy to go for a nice swim or surf at the beach.
But one of the sports that's frowned upon here is skateboarding. I myself used to be a skater and I used to get so frustrated on how people always told me to leave an area, or people would tell me and my friends to keep it down because of the entire click clacking of the skate board.
If you come to Miami you'll notice that on some benches and sidewalks there are skid marks, those are made due to grinding on the skateboard. Some skaters don't respect property and vandalize some areas and this gives us respectable skaters a terrible name, it's gone so far that the city of Miami has banned skateboarding in some area while other sports are allowed.
In a way it's kind of unfair but I can see where they are coming from. Skateboarding is a great sport and it's also considered a work at as well, it's also another way to keep kids out of trouble. The sad part about it is that they won't build a skate park here, this will eliminate most of the vandalism because then skaters will have a place to skate rather than skate out on the streets which can be dangerous sometimes, they were about to build a park in Miami but the plans got canceled. The closest park to Miami is extremely far, it's about a 45 minute drive there which is pretty ridiculous. It makes it harder for skaters to be able to skate freely but besides that every now and then skate companies set up a park for a couple days to have skate boards competitions and they even allow local skaters to use their park which is awesome. Miami is a beautiful place and a wonderful place to skateboard. So if you're to do some Miami tours grab a board and come join us in a skate session!
