Radio stations all over the country have recently started looking at local rappers to save the face of radio. Rappers like Akiese seem to bring new life into the hip hop, and pop music world by means of providing what is just good music. Tampa hip hop has been struggling to put more underground artist in the lime light due to a block in the business caused by the type of musical content that has been coming out of one of the bigest music markets in the country. Tampa hip hop has grown to be one of the most influential radio markets to date. Rap artist have the need to be heard by large crowds which the sunny state of Florida can provide. With large convention areas that are open to entertainment events I'm surprised there are not more Tampa rappers making a name for there self like the new artist Akiese.
Making music in a market that clings to up tempo beats can change the way most Tampa rappers choose to deliver there message. It can be very easy to get caught up on satisfying the fans instead of producing good music. When I first heard that Florida had a underground rap scene I had to check it out for my self, first chance I got I went down to the local Tampa hip hop clubs and checked out a few local artist, to only find the options were slim when asking who could I find my self listening to in the next few months. Tampa hip hop could grow to be the most trendy sound out there if a wider selection of music was played on there radio stations.
Tampa hip hop music has the ear of the music industry today and has a chance to put out a few good rappers this year. Tampa hip hop could truly benefit from bringing in more hip hop events to the area, and placing some of the up and coming artist like "Akiese" one of the few I found that really takes the music business serious.
