Microdermabrasion: The Cure For Aging Skin
Aging is a part of life that cannot be avoided; but fortunately
, there are steps we can take to slow down the effects of the process. This begins with the basics, such as eating right and exercising, in general, living a healthy lifestyle that provides our body with its needs.
There are two distinct types of aging; intrinsic, which is aging caused by the genes we receive, and extrinsic, which is aging related to environmental factors.
Intrinsic aging is the natural aging process that usually begin in the mid- 20s and continues throughout our lives. However, the outward signs of this aging may not be visible for decades. Within the layers of skin the production of collagen slows down and elastin loses some of its elasticity or spring. Additionally, there may be a decrease or slowing down of the creation of new skin cells. This results in a slowing of old skin cells being shed. And this can mean that the skin loses some of its youthful glow. Fine wrinkles begin to develop and the skin thins and becomes dry.
There are a number of external factors that can affect the aging process of our skin, with sun exposure being a major cause of premature aging. But even such things as repetitive facial expressions, gravity, sleeping positions, and smoking can have a negative impact on the aging of our skin. Research has shown that even small amounts of unprotected exposure to the sun can cause noticeable changes to the skin. While these changes may seem to happen suddenly, the changes begin under the skin long before we can see them.
Sun exposure can result in freckles that can eventually turn to age or brown spots. Other impacts include spider veins on the face, rough and leathery skin, fine wrinkles, loose skin, a blotchy complexion, and even skin cancer.
Acne is probably the most common skin condition in the world, and the scars it can leave behind make the skin look prematurely old. Even on a young person, acne scars can give an aged appearance, but as one ages and the skin loses its elasticity the scars contribute to an old look.
The good news is that each of these problems can be remedied. A good start is the basics of a healthy lifestyle with limited exposure to the sun. Follow that with a quality skin care regimen and a visit to a dermatologist. Most people are pleased to find that the treatments recommended are fast and effective.
