Microdermabrasion: The Path To A Better Face

When risk-averse people hear the words "plastic surgery"

, they tend to shy away. They hear a horror story or two and they decide they will never go under the knife, no matter how much they hate what they see in the mirror. While plastic surgery is very safe these days, there is no question that risks are involved any time you are on the operating table. For those to whom this seems unacceptable, there are still options that don't involve nearly as much risk. Microdermabrasion is one such option, and its benefits are great. Is it as effective as certain forms of plastic surgery? No. But it is certainly more effective that anything you'll find in a bottle.

The process itself involved technicians using small devices to spray micro-crystals on to the skin. In conjunction with a gentle abrasion, a suction works to remove the very top layer of the skin. When people read this, they automatically assume that such a procedure must be very painful, but actually nothing could be further from the truth. When done right, it only removes the dead skin layer, which is unconnected to nerve tissue and should cause very little pain. Their may be some discomfort, but that is from the fresh skin underneath being fully exposed to the elements all at once.

One of the primary benefits of microdermabrasion is that the recovery time is negligible. Unlike plastic surgery, which can take weeks to recover from, or procedures such as traditional dermabrasion and laser resurfacing, which can take a few days, this procedure heals up much more quickly. The average person can get on with their day within a couple of hours and it won't take more than two or three days for the skin to completely recover. In this era of busy lives, quick recovery times go a long way in determining what kinds of procedure people choose to get.

Beyond the quick recovery time and the dramatic benefits, many people choose microdermabrasion because it is such an inexpensive solution. Depending on where you go and where you live, you shouldn't be expecting to pay more than $150 a session. This may be slightly higher in some places, but that should give you a ballpark figure to expect. This is certainly a far cry from the many thousands of dollars you can expect to pay for even the most minor of plastic surgery operations. Talk to a doctor or a qualified professional near you to learn more about the benefits you can experience from microdermabrasion.
