Microsoft Ships Remote Fx Product

"Microsoft again successfully developed a great remote FX product

. After wait for 2 years it has got significant reputation and progress. Unlike other Microsoft product, the Remote FX is not a standalone product. The Remote FX is a latest technology developed by Microsoft, after its takeover of Calista Technologies in the year 2008. Calista was an independent company providing virtual device solutions for Windows thus together with Microsoft it did great work.

Remote FX is made up of combination of a group of RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol). It provides a great usability to the user by allowing users of virtual desktops or virtual applications to receive a 3dimensional multimedia experience in the process of accessing information from remote locations. Remote FX modifies and enhances the Remote Desktop Protocol. This new technology is incorporated in latest operating systems for example Windows server 2008 R2 and the Windows 7 SP 1. The Remote FX is proved to be very beneficial in improving the visual capabilities of Windows 7. There are various more improvements made in 3D graphics capabilities, some OpenGL, full motion video, and USB support for Windows 7 virtual machines.

It requires DirectX 10.0; recommended graphics card support and Hyper-V. The number of clients supported by it is entirely dependent upon the GPU memory and processor (tested up to 12 clients per graphics card). This technology also provides support for testing information. It perfectly works for the overall Remote Desktop Services workload.

Question still remain unanswered that what is RDP exactly? RDP can be defined to be a protocol that provides secure network communications, for the range of Windows based applications running on a server by protecting it against several risks. RDP helps to provide remote Diagnoses and resolution of problems of individual users by the network administrator. The RDP includes resource sharing properties, use of multiple displays, encryption, bandwidth reduction, smart card authentication, and re-direction of audio and printing functions and a host of such interesting avenues.

In traditional terminal services, client could see only the user interface. The execution of application took place only on the server. On the other hand, in the Remote FX, commonly termed as an App Streaming System, the applications that are stored on a centralized server are streamed to the client whenever it is demanded and then finally they are executed on the client machine. This is what Microsoft Application Virtualization is all about.
