Windows 7 Tips

Windows 7 is the latest in a series of successful windows operating systems. Following on from the likes of vista and XP, will Windows 7 be around for a while, or just be a passing fad that disappears, before we know what has happened? Here a five tips to help make sure you gain the best experience possible from Windows 7.

Improvements to troubleshooting.

Windows 7 has brought about a much better way of troubleshooting your problems; many of us will be more than knowledgeable about previous trouble-shooters that never solved any of our problems, and came up with half-wit answers that your five year old son knew the solution to. However, the troubleshooting section has been completely revamped, with more detailed answers, a simpler layout and constant updates to make sure the software stays knowledgeable.

Applocker.

Applocker is the answer to worried parents questions. Previous to this many parents only felt safe when watching over their children every time they went near a computer, which was always impractical. However, now with Applocker all you need to do is enter which applications you deem to be fit for use. This is also a very handy application for businesses using windows 7 as it allows managers to stop use of gaming software etc

Improvements to system restore.

If you have had a problem with a previous operating system, then system restore would have no doubt been one of your first ports of call. However, many users did not know what information they would lose, or which drivers system-restore would effect. Now Windows 7 will tell you previous to the restoration itself so you know exactly what files are at risk.

XP mode

If you have software that may not be compatible with Windows 7, then you can switch to XP mode, this is a massive time and money saver. This application will stop the need for dual mode.

Protect your data

Everybody knows having too much protection is a marvellous thing, if you are worried about transferring information from one computer to another via a memory stick, then Windows 7 now has an application called the BitLocker. BitLocker allows you to encrypt your memory stick, so if you lose it whilst transferring it then the information remains completely safe. To access BitLocker right click on your flash drive and click enable BitLocker, and it is as painless as that.
