In recent weeks the news has been littered with reports of failing Sony VGP-BPL8 Laptop Battery laptops and issues with exploding batteries.. well it seems these are limited to a specific batch which you won't find on laptopshop.co.uk There are all sorts of rumours flying around the internet about the problems with certain VGP-BPS2 Laptop Battery , but the reality is that there's little to be worried about. There were issues with the Batteries with a small batch. It was reported the the batteries were faulty and could burn your skin, when in reality all it was was that the software which manages the heating and cooling system for the laptops were out of date. Dell have subsequently issued software updates for their laptops through their websites and for those that can't update online, they're offering to pick up the machine and get one of their technicians to update the software for the customer. That's very nice isn't it. Either way, if you want Sony VGP-BPS2A Laptop Battery that have been tested and are guaranteed, then http://www.batterymag.co.uk is the place.
Acer comes clean with new VGP-BPS5 Laptop Battery availability and pricing One of the biggest issues with laptops and netbooks is the power, battery life and general lifespan of the machine. The new Aspire One laptop from Acer comes in four different models, all pretty much the same but with slight tweaks. The first is the VGP-BPL5A Battery laptop. It comes with an 11.6 inch screen and is powered by an AMD Athlon II Neo K125 processor and also has ATI Radeon HD 4225 Graphics acceleration. Price is expected to be in the 400 range. The second is the 521 Acer Laptop, which has a similar set up to the 721 in terms of specs, but with one main difference, this has a 10.1 inch display, just slightly smaller than the 721 model. What's also smaller is the price which is around, 300. If, however you're looking for an Acer laptop that extends your laptop batteries lifespan whilst delivering HD content, then look no further. The VGP-BPL2 Laptop Battery and the 533 both do this through their Intel Atom Processors and HDMI ports. A three cell battery, coupled with 1 GB of RAM is what gives the D620 model it's juice, it's price isn't bad either at around 249.
The Aspire One 533 has even more juice courtesy of it's N475 intel processor, 250 GB HDD and a full six cell battery giving it 9 hours+ battery life. The price is expected to be around 300. All these laptops are due out towards the end of July 2010 Microsoft has issued a detailed denial to accusations that Windows 7 is harming laptop batteries. Several blogs and forums have claimed that Windows 7 is having a detrimental effect on laptop batteries, with the operating system issuing repeated warnings that a previously healthy VGP-BPS9 Battery needs replacing.
However, in a detailed blog post on the Engineering Windows 7 site, Microsoft claims that there's no fault with the OS. "To the very best of the collective ecosystem knowledge, Windows 7 is correctly warning batteries that are in fact failing and Windows 7 is neither incorrectly reporting on battery status nor in any way whatsoever causing batteries to reach this state," Windows chief Steven Sinofsky states. "In every case we have been able to identify the Sony VGP-BPS8 Battery being reported on was in fact in need of recommended replacement." Microsoft says the confusion has been caused by a new warning system in Windows 7 laptops, that's designed to warn users when a battery's nearing the end of its useful life. "Windows 7 makes use of a feature of modern laptop batteries which have circuitry and firmware that can report to Windows the overall health of the battery," Sinofsky writes.
"This is reported in absolute terms as Watt-hours (W-hr) power capacity. Windows 7 then does a simple calculation to determine a percentage of degradation from the original design capacity. In Windows 7 we set a threshold of 60% degradation (that is the battery is performing at 40% of its designed capacity) and in reading this Windows 7 reports the status to you. "At this point, for example, a battery that originally delivered five hours of charge now delivers, on average, approximately two hours of charge. The Windows 7 notification is a VGP-BPS9/B battery meter icon and notification with a message Consider replacing your battery'. This notification is new to Windows 7 and not available in Windows Vista or Windows XP." Sinofsky claims Microsoft has thoroughly examined telemetry from Windows 7 customers and held lengthy discussions with key PC manufacturers to ensure that Windows 7 isn't harming VGP-BPL8 Battery . "Our OEM partners have utilised their telemetry (call center, support forums, etc.) and have let us know that they are seeing no activity beyond what they expect," he claims
