This history of the microwave goes back to a point where many people turned to them

just to make sure that food was warmed from a chilled temperature to one that could be enjoyed warm. Other methods such as immersing in water or exposing to heat can damage foods and make them unsuitable for cooking but not modern microwaves. These high tech food preparation devices offer the option to defrost, heat, cook, warm and do a variety of other things all within the microwave.

So for those who want to maximize family time that isn't spent preparing food but enjoying it, today's microwaves are an option that cannot be ignored.
