Mini Guide To Sapa

Sapa is an incredibly picturesque village that lies on the Hoang Lien Son mountain range near the Chinese border in NW Vietnam

. It is called as "the Tonkinese Alps" You can see many hill tribe people, their villages, rice terraces, lush vegetation, and Fansipan, highest peak in Vietnam. It is considered one of the must see places for Vietnam holidays.

How to get there

To get to the mountain you need to take a train from Hanoi to Lao Cai. From there you will take a mini bus up in to the town of Sapa. Transportation from Hanoi to Sapa can be arranged for a reasonable price. You might also be able to take a bus but it takes much longer.

Attractions

Trek Fansipan: Mount Fansipan is Vietnam's highest peak located in the far north just outside of Sapa. It is a very steep mountain that gets a lot of moisture. Those looking to climb it should be fit for the task and prepared to have muddy wet feet. The scenery is incredible so please remember to bring a camera with you. The temperature in the mountain is often 10 degree colder than in Sapa town, make sure to bring enough warm cloth, thick gloves for the winter time.

Cat Cat Village: Cat Cat Village is about 1 km from Sapa town. It's located at the bottom of the Muong Hoa Valley and near the stunning Cat Cat Waterfall. This is an age-old village of H'Mong ethnic group which still keeps unique customs and practices that are lost in other villages.
