Mining wheel chock brackets help wheel chocks get used
Wheel chock mounting brackets are a great investment in making work in a mining environment easier and more workable. With mounting brackets, instead of throwing the wheel chocks into the rear of the truck, or for the messier move, into the back or even front seat of the cab, they can be easily hitched on the brackets. While chocks belong on the ground when they're in use, they are much more accessible and organized when they are mounted on the back of the cab.
Installing Wheel Chock Mounting Brackets
To install the handy wheel chock mounting bracket, first make sure that you have a good surface on the back of the cab of the truck to adhere it to. The chocks can weigh around 25 pounds each and the bar must be able to hold them. A drill and mounting hardware are the only tools needed. Make sure the area is clear on the inside of the truck, and measure which size of screw needed to install it. There are three locations it will attach in the center and each end of the mounting bracket. Mark the locations with a pencil and then carefully drill. Once the holes are drilled, hold the brackets and place the appropriate hardware in the space and tighten the nuts. You are now ready to use the brackets.
Using Wheel Chock Mounting Brackets
Because these are heavy, mining employees should follow guidelines for lifting so as not to hurt their backs. The rod over which the chock will slide is narrow enough so that it does not impede loading of other items in the truck but has enough of a lip to catch the top of the chock. Most chocks have a built-in handle molded into it, so with the correct posture, it shouldn't be too difficult.
Using the Wheel Chocks
Now that the chocks have a mounting bracket, there's a much more likely chance that they will be used and remembered before driving away. While the safety guidelines are usually molded into the side of the chock, remember the basics: Place the vehicle in Park, put on the emergency brake, position the chocks snugly on the center of the tire tread, and always use the chocks in pairs and on firm surfaces in the direction of the incline.
Using wheel chock mounting brackets in the mining industry is one way to keep loading and loading easier and more efficient.
