Minnesota Vikings Tickets - Favre Excels Amid Boos At Lambeau

Midway through the season, the Minnesota Vikings can officially consider themselves the team to beat in the NFC North

. One of their major hurdles this season was their Week Eight game against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, and the Vikings came out victorious 38-26. This game held importance not only because it was a division game, but also because it marked a sort-of homecoming for their quarterback Brett Favre. Not the warm, inviting kind of homecoming, mind you, but the kind that welcomed the former Packer star with a collective "BOOO!"

Along with wanting to topple Favre's new team, the Packers were also out for revenge after the Vikings topped Green Bay 30-23 during Week Four play in Minnesota. The Packers are known as a tough team to beat at home, but the Vikings made easy work of Green Bay, even more so than the final score suggests. The reaction as Favre entered the field was overwhelmingly negative from Green Bay fans, but a few signs showed support for the veteran quarterback who was the face of the franchise for the better part of the 1990s and 2000s.

Green Bay struck first in the game with a 37-yard field goal by Mason Crosby midway through the first quarter. The Vikings didn't let them savor the lead for long, though, as they answered with a one-yard touchdown run by running back Adrian Peterson, finishing out the first quarter up 7-3. The second quarter only widened the lead for the Vikings, with Favre throwing his first touchdown on their first drive of the second quarter, hitting tight end Visanthe Shiancoe with a 12-yard touchdown pass. Before the end of the half, the Vikings added a 41-yard field goal by Ryan Longwell to give them a 17-3 lead.

The start of the second half wasn't any rosier for the Packers. Favre came out strong and led the Vikings down the field, ending in a 51-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Percy Harvin. The Packers then began to rally, starting with Crosby's second field goal. Before the end of the third quarter, Green Bay had scored two touchdowns, both on Aaron Rodgers' passes to tight end Spencer Havner, closing the gap to 24-20.

The Vikings started out the fourth quarter with another touchdown by Favre, this time on a two-yard pass to fullback Jeff Dugan. The Packers answered with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Rodgers to wide receiver Greg Jennings. They missed a two-point conversion attempt following the score, which made the Vikings' final score-a 16-yard touchdown pass from Favre to Bernard Berrian-even more decisive. The win puts the Vikings easily on top of the NFC North at 7-1, with the Packers and the Chicago Bears both at 4-3. Their dominance so far this season also sparked talk of a possible Super Bowl run for the team.

In his return to Green Bay, Favre finished 17-of-28 for 244 yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions and a rating of 128.6. The game was his 21st with four touchdowns or more, tying Dan Marino's record. Favre may have gotten a lot of the glory, but the Vikings' defense also had a memorable night. They sacked Rodgers an astonishing six times, and linebacker Chad Greenway led the defense with 11 tackles.
