Mitsubishi Pajero Engine: Leading Dakar Races Since 1985
Mitsubishi unveiled the very first Pajero in 1983 at Dakar Rally. Companys aim was to develop a recreational vehicle which can rise above mediocre Sports Utility Vehicles. Pajero proved its superiority by winning Dakar in 1985 and later becoming the most successful off roader in Dakar history. Its exceptional record not only established it as a major off road vehicle but also improved its sales twin fold. Till date Mitsubishi Pajero engines have following engine codes and specs.
4A31 Engine:
This 4 cylinder, 1.1 litre petrol engine was produced from 1990 till 1999.
4G93 Engine:
4G93 was 4 cylinder, 1.8 litre petrol engine was produced from 1995 till 2005. It was based on GDI DOHC technology with EFI.
4G93 Engine (Produced till 2006)
It was identical to the above mentioned engine but it was produced till 2006.
4G64 Engine:
This 4 cylinder, 2.4 litre petrol engine was produced from 1991 till 1999. It employed Single Cam technology.
4D56 T Engine(Intercooler MK1)
4D56 T Engine was turbo charged, 2.5 litre diesel engine. It was produced from 1985 till 1991 and employed Intercooler MK 1 technology.
4D56 T Engine (Intercooler MK2)
It was similar to its above mentioned variant but was produced from 1991 till1997 and incorporated Intercooler MK 2 technology.
6G72 Engine (GDI DOHC)
This 3.0 litre 24 valve petrol engine was a massive V6 and was produced from 1999 till 2006. It was based on GDI DOHC technology with EFI.
6G72 Engine (Single Cam)
This particular petrol engine was a V6 with 3.0 litre engine capacity and was produced from 1994 till 1998. It was a Single Cam engine.
6G72 Engine (DOHC EFI)
It was produced from 2006 to 2008 and was also a 24 valve, 3.0 litre V6 with DOHC EFI technology.
6G72 Engine ( MK 1 Injection)
This 3.0 litre 12 valve V6 was based on Mk1 Injection technology. It was produced from 1998 till 1991.
6G72 Engine (MK2 Injection)
It was a 3 litre V6 with 12 valves and Mk2 Injection technology, produced from 1991 to 1994.
4M41 T Engine (DID DOHC)
This 3.2 litre turbo charged diesel engine was produced from 2000 to 2005 and incorporated Intercooler DID DOHC with EFI technology.
4M41 T Engine (DI DC DOHC)
Apart from the technology used this engine was identical to its above mentioned twin brother.
6G74 Engine:
This 3.5 litre petrol V6 had 24 valves and was based on GDI DOHC technology with EFI. These engines were produced from 2006 till 2008.
