In mathematics, total number of whole number and proper fraction is called mixed fraction. This mixed fraction does not use any operator symbol and do not show any visible operator like as +. Mixed number form is,

Decimals:

Example Problems for Mixed Numbers:

1. Convert mixed fraction to decimals: '7 3/7'

Solution:

Given value is, '7 3/7'

First we convert mixed fraction number to fraction number,

= 7 3/7

Multiply denominator with quotient, and then add that value with numerator.

= (49 + 3) / 7

= '51/7'

Now, convert fraction numbers into a decimal numbers.

Now find, that 51/7 is the same as 51 divided by 7.

So we will write the 51 as 51.0, as a replacement for (a 51 with 1 zero after the decimal point).

Now, we just find the fraction: divide 51.0 by 7.

= 51.0/7

= 7.285

51/7 written as a decimal place is 7.285.

2. Convert mixed fraction to decimals: '2 7/6'

Solution:

Given value is, '2 7/6'

First we convert mixed fraction number to fraction number,

= 2 7/6

Multiply denominator with quotient, and then add that value with numerator.

= (12 + 7) / 6

= '19/6'

Now, convert fraction numbers into a decimal numbers.

Now find, that 19/6 is the same as 19 divided by 6.

So we will write the 19 as 19.0, as a replacement for (a 19 with 1 zero after the decimal point).

Now, we just find the fraction: divide 19.0 by 6.

= 19.0/6

= 3.166

19/6 written as a decimal place is 3.166.

Example Problems for Decimals Numbers:

3. Add the given two decimal numbers, 1.222 + 1.547.

Solution:

Given value is 1.222 + 1.547,

First add the right hand side values and left hand side values separately from dot,

And get the form like this, = (1 + 1) + (.222 + .547)

= (2) + (.769)

Then we get solution is,

= 2.769

The decimal number wording places is (2.769) 2 ones, 7 tenths, 6 hundredths and 9 thousandths.

4. Add the given two decimal numbers, 2.222 + 3.245.

Solution:

Given value is 2.222 + 3.245,

First add the right hand side values and left hand side values separately from dot,

And get the form like this, = (2 + 3) + (.222 + .245)

= (5) + (.467)


Then we get solution is,

= 5.467

The decimal number wording places is (5.467) 5 ones, 4 tenths, 6 hundredths and 7 thousandths.
