DIRECTV currently offers more than 130 high definition channels, which leads the premium home television industry. The satellite TV company has made a commitment to lead the industry in programming content, technology, and exclusive programming, and adding 30 additional channels this month is one more milestone for the company.

Movie fans get 9 new HD channels broadcasting fulltime, including 3 Showtime channels, 2 HBO channels, and 2 STARZ channels. See blockbuster Hollywood movies the way they were meant to be seen, unedited and uncut in their original format.

Sports fans and movie buffs will be the big winners this month. 5 new sports channels will join the High Definition ranks this month including CSN Bay Area HD, CSN California HD, ESPNU HD, FSN Florida HD, and GolfTV.

On July 10th and 11th, Major League Baseball DIRECTV, YES Network, and FSN Northwest are going to broadcast the first baseball games ever shown in 3D. The New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners are set to show the world what 3D baseball is all about. DIRECTV and Panasonic are the title sponsors for the two-day event.

Beginning in June, DIRECTV HD customers will receive a free software upgrade enabling access to dedicated 3D channels. DIRECTV channels include N3D, ESPN 3D, 3D DIRECTV Cinema, and 3D DIRECTV On DEMAND.
