Details can kill your web business
Details can kill your web business. And I'm not talking about details killing your business from the perspective of being careless about them. While that may inadvertently hurt your business, everybody knows that (although not always implemented).
The way I am talking about details that can kill your business if you focus too much on them. What to say? How is it possible to focus too much on the details affect your business? Never tried to walk on train tracks?
When I was young, my aunt and uncle had a house right next to a train. My uncle once challenged me to walk on the track without falling.
Hey, it's not like walking a tightrope. That track was as wide as my feet. Should be no problem. So I started walking it, carefully watching my feet with each step to make sure I stayed on the track. But I couldn't get more than a couple of steps before I'd lose my balance and fall off.
My uncle taught me that the only way to walk that track successfully was to look at a point a ways down the track- not down at my feet. By setting a goal and focusing on it, I could walk on that track as easily as if I was walking right on the ground. It was only when I focused on my feet that I tripped up.
It works this way now, too. Our natural reaction is to put all our attention & see our feet as we deal with this detail and that short-term. But when we do, off track when we wanted to go.
Now, I do not mean that we should ignore the details of our activities we look enviously to our business philosophy knockout we dream of building. You will never get anywhere without that step after step after step to achieve your goals. But you will not achieve anything, either, if you look overall at that stage.
The distance from the point that you need to focus on, you need your audience is and you have a solution that satisfies. It requires the information to the public- who they are, and what they need and what concerns to prevent the choice of the solution.
It's too easy for us to focus on the details of traffic peaks and more recent tools, the latest bells and whistles we can add to our site. The data are normally guided by facts, and facts are what we are hoping to learn and control. Understanding the people we represent a large number of potential customers is much more frightening. It requires leaving ourselves, our hearts and minds of others.
Since the process of choosing the foreseeable facts and details, or face unexpected human nature, most of us jump to any agreement with the facts.
But we can not get taken to watch their feet as our feet inexplicably slipped off the track. The only way to stay on schedule is to look towards your ultimate goal: to help people solve some problems to restore it back to you right in accordance with the time and effort put into it.
It's just the simplest definition of what the business is. Details are not your business. Facts and tips and tools are not your business is. I'm just a step you take to get to this point at a distance. And the more you take the heart, the more you stay on track toward your goal.
