. The most important one relevant to e-mail marketing is not to send promotional or commercial messages to anyone you don't know or who has not agreed to receive them.

Most people will get stuff in the mail/e-mail that they did not agree to receive. They didn't opt in to the information. This is a poor way to conducting MLM recruiting online. This is more of a problem for online messaging. Spam has gotten out of hand over the years where it's actually pretty hard to determine which e-mails are spam even for filters built into yahoo, msn, and google mail services.

This can be branched off to forums, social networks, and any other online meeting place between people. So I touched on this on early posts about people don't want to be sold to. If a person isn't in the mindset of wanting to hear a pitch or looking to be sold to then it's not going to happen. This generally applies to cold market situations.

So today I wanted to talk about social networks in general and why netiquette among business owners is missing. A social network is a web site for people with hopefully similar interests to interact with each other. This is a great way to build a online network. Now using a social network like myspace or facebook can be great for your online business but you need to know how to use them.

Let's take the common sense approach of cold market + social network. You are in a social network with complete strangers. Maybe they added you or you added them for whatever reason. Hopefully the reason you add them is because they fulfilled some business requirement of yours like regional area or background of expertise. If the first thing that comes out of your mouth is to sell something do you think a favorable response will ensue? How you go straight to business when you haven't really introduced each other?

If a social network is to link people together and have them "socialize" then that is what you need to do. Talk. Don't go straight to a business presentation with a thousand of different elements to the message. You are going to lose your audience or worse yet not even have one cause they marked you as spam or deleted you as a friend.

Think of this as courting someone in a relationship. You don't want to just go find someone and sleep with them in hopes they will be a great long term partner. The odds are stacked against you. You need to build a relationship first. This ensures that trust is built and the other part understands where you are coming from. Being genuine online is very important. People do NOT want to join a crook's organization.

The main purpose of this is to finally sponsor quality associates who really have a deep interest in your business and will grow into become leaders. Blindly sponsoring anything that moves will result in a very high failure rate. Actually spending time up front will help you in the long run because people will truly understand your business and how to make it grow. Too many times people jump into something they are just not ready yet.

Build a relationship. Don't sell anything. Seek to help others and MLM recruiting will follow.

By doing these simple things you will be able to MLM leads who are interested more in you than in something you sell. Products come and go but you are the real thing. Market yourself and not to spam every living person on facebook.
