Oh, my heavens! This past weekend was quite a reality check for me

. This reality check hit me hard and proved to me the true dedication level of most network marketers. There are times when I feel like EVERYONE is a dedicated network marketer, and then there are those times that I know that there are only a select few!

I attended an event in San Diego hosted by internet marketing gurus Ryan Dunn & Steve Schuitt. I was attending based on just them, however, I also learned that other gurus like Jonathan Budd, David Schwind, Jim Yahgi and network marketing business coach, Jeffrey Combs were to be presenting. As I looked around the room, I was shocked to see ONLY 20 people in attendance. With all these gurus in one room, how was it that there were only 20 people there?

This happens because of the lack of commitment from many network marketers. It is more exciting to spend a day in July at the beach or near a pool than to sit in an enclosed room for 8 hours. That said, I find it that as I continue down the road to achieve crazy success, it is better for me to be learning from gurus than to be wrinkling up like a raisin by the pool. I went there thinking that there would be hundreds of people in the room, but was pleasantly surprised when I found a small, more intimate group. It was even more rewarding when it turned out to be an intimate enough event that I could ask the questions to these gurus personally that had been filling up my mind.

There are other industry events lined up for the rest of this year, and yes, I will be attending all of them. It is is a critical factor to our success as network marketers to be at every one! The argument is heard all too often that, 'I don't have the money.' That is a washed up and overused excuse. Get creative. I don't attend events for the rah-rah value, but rather for the people I meet. It is my intention to meet at least one person at each event who I will continue to build a relationship with. This person could end up being a future business partner and someone who can drastically change my professional career and vice versa.
