Mo Abudu With Hillary Clinton: Part 1

I think Mo Abudu has till date been one of the very few women who have been known never to mince words

. Let's take a look at what the Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton had to say when she was on Moments with Mo.

The first question Clinton was asked came with respect to the African women and the challenges faced by them, right from lack of education to poverty to non participation in governance. To this, Clinton responded that she is herself very much concerned about the same, and has seen hardcore evidence in the form of economic and sociological studies, as well as research conducted by the World Bank, that are a proof of how grave the situation is. She was speaking specifically in terms of Nigeria, and the fact that if women are not given rights, the country can't develop beyond a certain point.

second argument was in continuation to a fact that Clinton highlighted' nearly 70 percent of small farmers in Nigeria are women, and the situation is the same across Africa. Women lead a very hard life, i.e., take care of their families as well as farming, which is basically a never-ending work schedule, and in the end, it is neither being rewarded nor recognized. Both of them also agreed to the fact that if African women stopped working, the entire continent would sort of 'shut down', since the economy is heavily reliant on them and their efforts.

Clinton and Mo Abudu also agreed to the fact that educating a man means educating one individual, while educating a woman means educating a family, and in some cases, even a community. And this is precisely what the future needs, more educated children who can go on to become responsible adults.
