Whether its iPhone, Android, BlackBerry or Windows Phone 7; the smartphone industry

have become one of the most popular, demanding and happening thing in the market. The term Smartphone has been in the market since late 90s, however the term became popular and widely known since the release of first iPhone back in 2007. Obviously, as almost every one of us is aware that with the launch of smartphones the requirement of solutions via mobile app development services slowly and gradually started increasing in the market.

The earlier mobile apps were made for mobile OSs (Operating System) such as Symbian, Palm OS, Windows Mobile, and BlackBerry. Besides, back in late 90s till mid 2000s the mobile SDKs (Software Development Kit) had numerous limitations in terms with functionalities, availability of tools, software & hardware integration functionalities, etc. These had bound the mobile app developers and programmers to limit their skills and expertise. Ultimately, the number of apps developed during this period were way less as compared to the apps that are been developed now. Besides, the apps back then were pretty simple and were performing very simple tasks. On the other hand even the smartphone users back then were handful as compared to that of normal phone users. The only stakeholders opting for mobile app development services were the big corporates, and that too were very limited.

Yet, the true revolution of mobile apps was started with Symbian OS devices launched in the market by the mobile giant, Nokia. Symbian OS was powerful, and were capable to support numerous apps which can be usefull even for a normal user. Later with the new BlackBerry OS oriented smartphone launched in the market by RIM (Research in Motion), brought another wave of mobile app development requirement. Although, smartphone OSs such as Symbian, BlackBerry and upto some extent Palm OS and Windows Mobile were dominating the market; however, most of the users of these smartphones were corporate entities or corporate individuals. Hence, being the popular mobile OSs in the market the apps availability were still limited.

So the main question mobile app development how does it all started and become a popular term? The answer is within the first paragraph itself. Yes, with the launch of first iOS (iPhone Operating System, known previously) rich phone iPhone, the requirement of mobile app development started reaching its peak. Again soon after the iPhone, Googles Android devices started making its debut in the market and later join the Windows Phone 7 series. Now after almost after 5 release since the release of first iPhone, the Apples App Store features more than 500,000 apps and Googles Android Market features almost the similar number of apps. These smartphone devices have opened another door of possibilities by supporting numerous amounts of amazing mobile apps. From inventory management to finding a restaurant, high end console quality gaming to education, and much more; with modern smartphones the mobile app development service providers can unleash their true potential and can come up with a solution that can bring value addition to our lives.
