, there is no place for a bulky keypad on a mobile phone. So, if you see a mobile phone with large buttons on display, you may wonder who buys such phones. Well, you may not know, but these mobiles are usually designed for aged people.

The fact is that most elderly people simply cannot use conventional mobile phones with integrated keyboards and small keys. There are usually two reasons for this.

You will agree that operating modern day mobiles requires you to be quite nimble with your fingers. These devices require advanced hand-eye coordination. But elderly people tend not to possess such physical dexterity and mental coordination skills. This is why they fumble with small buttons on regular mobile phones and often end up dialing the wrong number.

After a certain age our grasping power, hearing ability and vision reduces, for which such phones are necessary to make life easy for people with such disabilities.

Then comes the keypad settings. Modern day mobile phones have very intricate key arrangement, which calls for nimble fingers and excellent eye-hand co-ordination. This causes too much of inconvenience to old people.

Now, it is commonly seen that with age problems like reduced vision, hearing and other physical issues set in. With all such problems it becomes almost impossible for them to handle devices that have small buttons and display. So phones with simple keypad and larger buttons are definitely easier for them to use.

For people who are visually challenged, there are phones in the market which have numbers embossed on them; so that they can identify the keys only through touch.

So to conclude, senior mobile phones are a blessing not only to the aged but also for anyone who have impaired sense of hearing or vision or both.
