Since Google started testing Google Sync two years ago, the new Mac users left the store wondering, "Which is the better choice... to spend $99 per year on Apple's MobileMe applications, or skip the expense and use free Google Sync?" Strangely, even with the recent increase in Google SmartPhones, Google Calendar and Google Docs, a lot of Mac support experts still recommend MobileMe.

In case you are not familiar or you have never sold MobileMe in the Mac Store, MobileMe is an application that automatically syncs with the iPhone, MacBooks or Mac desktops, iPods and iPads. MobileMe is frequently promoted by Mac Stores and Mac Resellers alike.

MobileMe is very helpful with email, contacts and calendar info, and it also includes 20 GB or storage space online. Since it is an Apple application, it is not surprising to find that the Mac Store, Apple Mac website and a lot of Apple support and professionals are recommending it - but is it really worth $99 per year?

So, why are so many Mac Stores and Mac Support specialist still insisting on MobileMe more than Google Sync? Most of it has to do with old habits and lack of awareness of the latest trends in software. Still there are benefits that come from MobileMe integration with other products sold in the Mac Store.

Sure, you can still use Google for synchronizing data between most devices, but for someone who is already familiar with MobileMe, Google Sync may seem a bit complicated. And let's face it, we all know how many Mac users enjoy the purity of using "all things Apple" and don't deviate from this mantra. Apple makes it simple to use and easy to plug-and-play. So if you are more concerned with saving time, then MobileMe might be the right choice for you.
