Montana Convention Center's Provide Relaxation And Productivity
It seems like almost every day I receive e-mails from someone or another inviting
me to go to professional development classes so that I can stay up to date on all the changes going on in my field.
Although some of these classes and workshops are tempting, usually I pass on these opportunities thinking that I'm too busy and tired to spend my free time at some convention downtown. I wish that some of these weekend workshops could be held somewhere more relaxing like a Montana convention center.
I definitely wouldn't mind getting away for a weekend in scenic Montana where I could relax and go enjoy all that nature has to offer during my down time. Honestly, I fight traffic every day trying to go to and from work. I want to go to a place where I can get away from all that hustle and bustle on the weekends.
I think that just getting away from the stress of the busy city life would be enough to ease my mind so that I could let my professional development training sink in instead of feeling like I'm drowning in an overwhelming sea of impossible expectations.
If my employer told me that I was required to go to a meeting in MontanaI'd probably be tempted to break into a song and dance of rejoicing in excitement because of the opportunity to get away from it all.
Unfortunately this isn't usually the case. My workshops and required professional development meetings are generally held somewhere downtown. I end up waking up even earlier than my usual time so that I can navigate unfamiliar territory and still arrive at my destination on time regardless of the rush hour traffic.
If my training is on a Saturday, I'm lucky enough to avoid the traffic, but I'm still dragging myself out of bed when I should be sleeping in just so that I can go to a meeting where the only thing I have to look forward to is the fact that there will be a catered lunch.
If only my professional development training was scheduled to take place in a Montana convention center, I would be tempted to wake up early just to enjoy the clean fresh air, and I'd be able to go out hiking in the mountains when the training was over. It would be the perfect weekend, relaxing and at the same time productive.
