More Body, More Volume In Your Hair Today
If you look around at the women milling about your college campus
, local mall, or favorite restaurant, you will definitely see that plenty of volume in hairstyling is "in." But regardless of current trends, hair that sports volume and body tends to look healthier than limp, lifeless locks.
If you're concerned because your hair isn't showing the lift and body you would like it to, never fear! I have dealt with that before but have since discovered a variety of tips and tricks that have given my coif the zing it needs to stand out and appear healthier. Let me share some of them with you.
One of the major setbacks that your hair faces when it comes to keeping that oomph is sheer weight, especially if you have thick and/or curly hair. Take a trip to the hair salon to discuss a shorter style with a qualified stylist or find out if thinning out your tresses would work for you. Thinning removes some of that extra weight without changing the actual length of your hair.
Next, you will want to take a hard look at the products you are using--ALL of them. If you have dry or damaged hair, then the conditioner you are using to treat the problem may be too heavy for your hair. Or, some of the mousse, gel, or other styling aid may be too thick or not as style-friendly as you first thought.
While you're chatting with your stylist about a new 'do, ask him or her what solutions s/he recommends to deal with all of your concerns.
For example, the last time I had my hair done, I found out about a lightweight strengthening spray that could be misted onto my damaged ends, while a root-lifting spray could be applied to my crown to give me more volume. Neither of these products creates unwanted buildup, so my curly locks are able to defy gravity in just the way I want it to.
Make sure that you select salon-quality products that will hold up under pressure. It would be wise to invest in a styling cream to safeguard your look against heat and humidity, for example, instead of trusting in a heavy-duty hairspray that might ruin it instead.
If you regularly blow dry your hair, then master the art of using alternative methods. A round brush can be your best friend when you are trying to create a straight style that still has plenty of bounce in it. Or, you can dry your hair with your head bent forward so that your hair is hanging upside down. This will create more lift at the roots.
Above all, try to have fun as your experiment with products and hairdos. It might be frustrating at first, but don't get discouraged. Don't forget that a stylist at a high-quality salon is ready and willing to help you.
