More Pennies

More Pennies

The other day when getting into my car I found one penny in the same area where I had found the previous four. While putting this one in my pocket it made me wonder how many other lost pennies were out there looking for a home. By now you are laughing. But, think about it. How many people have jars and jars of pennies? Saving them for what?

How many of us are living our lives as if we are pennies in a jar; afraid to spend our time, our emotions, our ability to love, and to live authentically in our own power? How many of us are not spending our pennies, let alone our dollars? If we are not spending our pennies by putting them back into the system, how can we expect the universe to give us more?

Now let's take this a bit further. How many of you have clothes hanging in your closet that you rarely wear? Maybe you have a bottle of wine tucked away for a special occasion, or your freezer is full but you don't cook.

Members of my family, and maybe yours lived through what is called The Depression.' This was a time where jobs, food, clothes, and many other things were in short supply. The lessons learned from this time have filtered through to many of us today. We save plastic bags, tin foil, wax paper, and so on. My son laughs at me when he sees me do this. Funny thing is we are looking at this from different perspectives. I look at it as someone who was taught at an early age to reuse. Today we call it going Green,' and sustainable. It seems that we have come full circle doesn't it?

So the next time you find a penny, add it to the rest of the change in your wallet and spend it. Go into your closet and wear that fancy dress, those shoes, that jacket, drink that bottle of wine, and enjoy it. Stop saving all those pennies for a rainy day and start living your life!
