Legend has it that Longinus was blind in one eye and was one of the centurions present at the foot of the cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified. It is also said that Longinus inflicted a wound on Jesus body with the use of his spear which bled severely. While standing at the foot of the cross a drop of blood which came out of this wound had fallen on his eye and had miraculously cured his ailment. Longinus is then said to have converted to believing the teachings of Christ.
