Moroccan Tile Company Le Mosaiste Moves & Upgrades Los Angeles Showroom
Just eight months after opening its location on Almont Drive in West Hollywood
, the high-end tile company LE MOSAISTE decides to take advantage of a vacancy on nearby Robertson Boulevard to move its showroom. The purpose of the move is clear: added visibility and closer proximity to the Pacific Design Center. "We think the new space will allow us to serve the local design community more effectively", says co-founder Faissel Farhi.
The New Location
Being situated in the building right next to the John Varvatos store and across the street from glitzy Italian restaurant Cecconi"s (just south of Melrose & Robertson), the company"s new showroom can certainly be considered prime real estate. Not only is it quite a bit easier to find, but it has more square footage and wall space than its predecessor, allowing for more sample board displays. For close to 20 years the space was home to Trigg Ison Fine Art, one of West Hollywood"s top art galleries.
The Dcor
Similar to the previous place, it"s a gallery style set up with a vast Arabesque mosaic pattern as the focal point. The reddish-brown earth tone chosen for the walls is the perfect backdrop for the firm"s handcrafted ceramic tile products, and it"s not unlike some of the colors you can find in the Medina of Marrakech. The sea grass flooring, the water feature surrounded by moss, the succulents featured in the soffit niches, the custom made brass lanterns, and the eclectic world music all provide for an almost spa-like experience.
LE MOSAISTE teamed up with interior designer and new neighbor Paul L"Esperance (
lesperancedesign.com), best known for his award-winning work on the 22 million dollar restoration of The Leland Stanford Mansion. The joint effort took the design of the new showroom into a direction that complements the elegant and organic qualities of the company"s artisan zellige tiles. The idea behind the dcor was to pay tribute to the origin of the tiles while hinting at their versatility. The term that comes to mind is "Moroccan modern".
