. Up to 10 pounds of fat can be removed from the body. This usually results in a more noticeable body shape change. The procedure should make a noticeable improvement for the patient though the full results will not appear for many months.

The procedure should not result in dramatic alterations of the patients overall weight or appearance. In most cases the initial results may seem minimal. This is a normal process as the swelling and the bruising begin to pass and the recovery period completes its cycles. The desired results will begin to show up little by little over time.

Swelling often lasts for weeks and most of the time months to fully disappear. Many surgeons have their patients wear a compression garment to aid in the recovery process. This helps to reduce long term effects created by the swelling, bruising, and scarring. It also aids in the desired curvature the weight-loss was meant to create.

The patient's skin may appear to be loose but this is just a result of the body readjusting to its new slender shape. Overall, it takes about six months for the skin to recover from the surgery fully. It also takes time for the skin to tighten over the area where the fat has been removed.

In order to maintain these months of recovery and the procedure itself the patient will need to maintain a health diet and exercise lifestyle. While the surgery is permanent if the patient has a poor lifestyle fat will begin to accumulate in those areas again. Maintaining a strict, healthy, diet is central to the preservation of the results.

Many patients want to know when they will be able to go back to work. In general most patients are back to work within five to ten days. However, for those who's jobs require them to lift heavy objects they may need to wait up to three or four weeks to go back to work. Any strenuous activity should be avoided from about four to six weeks.

Patients should make sure their surgeon addresses any concerns they have before the surgery is performed. Especially concerns about bruising, swelling, lumps, scaring and any other side effects that might occur after surgery. There are many different remedies not discussed here that can help with the complete recovery of any side effects and help ease the waiting process it often takes.
