Do you know what happens to those fancy new electronics when they are past their prime? The simple answer herein could be that they are recycled. However, the prospect of these electronics getting recycled is dependant entirely on their brand and the electronic companies that they belong to. We have tried to bring to you a few home truths about electronic companies and their recycling programs.

Stay Away From the Worst Recycling Programs

All major electronics goods manufacturing companies offer a recycling program. There are many major electronic companies that till date do not offer recycling programs however there are others that do. Sony was the first TV Company that launched a take-back program. Companies like Samsung and LG have their own national recycling programs. However, three companies Toshiba, Sharp, and Panasonic, together own a recycling company called MSM. This company was specially created to comply with State Laws with respect to recycling.

To date customers feel that none of these companies have come out with recycling program that is convenient. Especially in the realm of TVs and their disposal, these companies need to do much more.

Not the Cell Phone Way

It is no secret that everyone upgrades their cell phone, every two years. Okay, lets rephrase the statement. A major portion of cell phone users upgrade their phones. Now the bad part about this whole business of changing phones is that the cell phone industry is not doing enough to recycle cellphones. These phones are not covered by any legislation. Where do the phones that are mailed back to the companies go? How are they used or disposed of? Not many companies are willing to give this information. The recycling of other electronic goods should not go the way of the cell phones.

Still a Long Way to Go

The simple truth about electronic companies and recycling is that they still have a long way to go. The efforts are being made but they are half hearted at best. More importantly not all countries are focusing on the importance of recycling for the greater good. Thus, the seeming pressure on these electronic companies to do something lifts marginally.

Its important that all States pursue the idea of recycling electronic goods aggressively. This will help put pressure on the electronic companies to bring about a change in their approach towards the recycling of the electronic products that they have sold in the market.About the Author:
