Most Searched Hatchbacks In August

With the year inching towards the festive season of October

, the demand for cars in the Indian market has started shooting upwards. The segment that caught the most limelight during last few months is the compact hatchback segment that witnessed the entry of a series of new cars. During this period, the industry saw a considerable rise in the online car searches and launch of a series of new online campaigns from the car makers' side.

The car that has been searched the most during the month of August is the best selling Maruti Alto. The Alto model kept gathering headlines through-out the month, first, because of launch of a new K-series engine equipped Maruti Alto K10 in the first week and then because of the launch of a factory fitted CNG version of this car in the country.

The model that stood at the second spot in the online searches was the Ford Figo that had been rolled-out in the country in the month of March 2010. The Figo model carries a perfect blend of style, comfort and performance with it. The major contributor to its popularity include its availability in both petrol and diesel engines, fully loaded interiors and many more.

The car that stood at the third place in the online search was the recently (15th July, 2010) launched Nissan Micra. What contributed to its popularity the most was the signing of popular Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor as its brand ambassador by the company. The car remained among the most talked about cars in India in both online and electronic media.

Despite being more than a year old in the industry, the Hyundai i10 model managed to get the fourth spot in the overall online search during the month. The car is one of the best selling model in the Hyundai's India portfolio. Having an automatic transmission version in its variants attracted a large number of buyers towards this car.

The Volkswagen Polo model was the 5th most searched car online during this month. The popularity has been chasing the Polo hatchback in the Indian market since the company showcased it in the Delhi International Auto Expo in January this year. The main attraction of this car is its revolutionary exterior design.

Besides the above five, the cars that managed to get a considerable amount of attention during this month include Maruti Swift, Maruti Wagon R, Hyundai i20, Hyundai Santro and Chevrolet Beat. All of these cars are among the well established cars in the Indian market and have received an over whelming response from the Indian buyers.
