Most Selling Cars In Europe

Car markets all over the world are facing problems. In Europe, only two markets have shown some boost, according to June figures. British market registered a 3.5% growth in new car sales, while Germany has shown a 2.9% increase. This looks great when compared with other car markets of Spain and Italy plummeting to 12.3% and 24.5% respectively. Some cars have excelled others. Lets have a look at some of the best selling cars in Europe.

Volkswagen Golf:

The Golf keeps its position as Europes best selling car. Though the sales showed a decrease of 4.2% in the last month, but even then, 39,811 of them had been sold last month making a total of 240,020 to date this year and still selling. With its practical shape and Volkswagens engine, the Golf is rightful in keeping the leadership.

Volkswagen Polo:

Another favourite car of Europeans is also a Volkswagen. Its the Polo. Though the sales have dropped to 12.3% as compared to last year, but that drop is 10% less than that of the rivalling Ford Fiesta. This year 163,818 units of Polo has been sold to date giving it a good lead over its rivals. Polo engine choices are 1.2-litre 60hp, 1.2-litre 70hp, 1.4-litre 85hp and 1.2-litre turbo 105hp in petrols and 1.6 75hp, 1.6 90hp in diesels.

Ford Fiesta:

Ford Fiesta used be the be the bestselling car in Europe, but the sales have dropped by 21%. Though Fiesta is still the best seller in the UK, the other European markets need to be covered, this might happen with the facelift expected to be launched this year. To date 171,605 of Fiestas have been sold. The Ford engine in Fiesta is 1.6-litre with 120bhp.

Ford Focus:

Focus is another Ford making it in the list. 139,108 units of Ford Focus have been sold to date, 29.6% decline from the last year. Ford is hoping the release of 1.0-litre Ecoboost might change the figures. Focus has a 2.0 TDCi diesel Ford engine.

Nissan Qashqai:

Nissan Qashqai also claims a good share of European car sales. Its a regular in the top seller lists in the UK and Europe. Nissan has managed to sell 114,586 of them till date. There was a 16% increase in sales in June. The choice of Nissan engines in Qashqai includes 1.6l and 2.0l in petrols and 1.5 turbo and 2.0 turbo in diesels.

BMW 3 Series:

With the launch of new F30, BMWs 3series sales have grown. If three BMWs are sold in the world, one of them is a 3 series thanks to the latest F30. 91,442 units of BMW 3series have been sold to date this year and it is expected it will move its position up in the best selling list. BMW engines offered in the 3 series are 2.0 four-cylinder turbo and 3.0 straight six turbo in petrols and a 2.0 four-cylinder turbo diesel.
