Working the children is great fun and it's also amazing how you can learn from a child. As a play group leader, I have many responsibilities from planning activities to organising day trips. The group is for mums who don't work and just need an excuse to get out the house.

The group is run once a week for 2 hours which means at time I have too many mothers that I have to turn some away. Legally I can only have 18 children each session, so it usually gets full quickly and I'm hoping to add more session next year.

Each week I have to plan and set up the activities, as well as deciding what to have at snacks time. I always make sure the snacks are appropriate for the children and the mothers. I like to involve the children in everything, so get them to help me set up the table for snack time.

My favourite part of the group is singing time, the children love it. The mothers and children get really involved with all the dance movements and the singing. Our all time favourite song is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' which makes all the children jump with joy.

There are also many other activities to do and different toys to play with such as water play, bikes, painting, animal plush toys, blocks and many more. They all enjoy it so much that they don't realise when it's time to go home. To finish the day we all take part in tidying up and making sure the room is ready for the next group.
