The latest Motherboard that has been launched in india is the new ASUS ROG Maximus II Formula which sports a LGA775 socket for Intel Core2 Extreme / Core2 Quad / Core2 Duo family of processors. This asus motherboard comes with a Intel P45/ICH10R chipset with Intel Fast Memory Access Technology. The System Bus speeds supported by it are 1600/1333/1066/800 MHz. This motherboard supports a Dual-channel memory architecture that can support up to16GB, DDR2-1200/1066/800/667 MHz, non-ECC and un-buffered memory.

The expansion slots that are present in this board include 2 x PCIe2.0 16 x slots, 3 x PCIe x1 slots the PCIE x 1 which is black in colour is compatible with the audio slot and it also comes with 2 x PCI 2.2 slots.

For storage this Asus Motherboard offers 6 x Z SATA 3.0 Gb/s ports and one Marvell 88SE6121 controller with 1 x UltraDMA 133/100/66/33 port for up to 2 PATA devices. Also with that it comes with 1 x External SATA 3.0 Gb/s port which provides SATA On-the-Go. For networking this board comes with Dual Gigabit LAN controllers, both featuring AI NET2.

The audio is provided by a Supreme FX X-Fi Audio Card: that provides ADI AD2000B 8-channel High Definition Audio CODEC and has Creative X-Fi capability along with the X-Fi interface and comes with integrated Coaxial/Optical S/PDIF out ports. The board comes with a maximum of up to 12 USB 2.0 ports which include 6 ports at mid-board, and 6 ports at back panel.

The board also offers a few ROG Exclusive Over clocking Features. Another feature of this board is that it incorporates a Pin Fin Thermal Module with an Extreme Engine that is constituted of a 16-phase power design for CPU, with a 3-phase power design for north bridge and a 2-phase power design for memory, along with an Extreme Tweaker that allows the user to change the CPU Level, with a small LCD Poster and it comes with Onboard Switches that include Power / Reset / Cls CMOS which have been placed at the rear.
