If you fall from the bike even going 5 miles an hour there is a possibility of fracturing a heel or an arm when you brace yourself for the fall to the pavement.

If you are in an accident, depending on who hits who and how hard there is a chance of breaking multiple bones and traction is a high guarantee for your hospital stay along with multiple cast changes. If you are not wearing a helmet and fall from the bike there is a chance for a skull fracture and a brain bump that you hope will not leave permanent damage.

If you are riding your motorcycle and take a corner and your bike happens to catch some sand and slides out from under you then you may slide into a curb and your knee will help stop you and a new knee is in order to fix that broken bone

The best thing you can do is to try and protect yourself by wearing all the protective gear suggested for your ride. This includes the full jacket with elbow pads and a back pad, leather pants, gloves for your hands, boots to cover your feet and ankles, and a helmet for your head. It is true that this is not fun wear in 90 degree weather but then again if you can prevent one of the broken bones you gain on healing time and that means you will back on the bike in no time enjoying the ride again.
