Motorhome is a recreational vehicle which is also referred to as motor coach

There is a separate kitchen area in the motorhome which is equipped with necessary cooking arrangements. These arrangements though common in all motorhomes vary depending upon the model. Luxurious motorhomes usually offer microwave along with standard sink and grill. The dining area is housed in the motorhome which at times is attached with the kitchen.

The washroom area is integrated with a cassette toilet along with basin and shower. Some recent motorhomes come with a separate shower area or cubicle. There is the living/lounge area which is stylishly designed comprising the settee and other couches. The cab area of the motorhome is designed in a manner so that it can be easily included in the living area.

History

The history of motorhomes can be associated with the era of 1920s. The first company to start the commercial development of a motorhome was the Jennings. They started this process in 1939. However the onset of World War II delayed the production of motorhomes. It was later in the 1950s that the manufacturing of motorhomes again came back in momentum.

Types

Motorhomes can be distinctly categorised into three types. Lets take a look at each of them.

Alcove These are simultaneously referred to as C-class motorhomes or coachbuilt. The most striking feature of this motorhome is the double berth placed above the driving cab. Fiat and Ford are some of the famous companies associated with the manufacture of alcove motorhomes. The body of this motorhome is caravan styled and it is ascended on a chassis.

Integrated This is perhaps the most stylish and posh among the motorhome types. As a result it is also referred to as an A-class motorhome. Here the driving cab is integrated within the living area. Some of the striking features of an integrated motorhome are:

The only difference between them is the absence of berths in the cab area. Due to this, the tallness of the semi-integrated motorhome is low compared to an alcove motorhome.
