Motorola Atrix Set to Transform Mobile Phone Industry
Motorola ATRIX is just one amongst the number of phones that were launched by many manufacturers at the CES in Las Vegas. However, it really stands apart from the crowd of normal smart phones. The Motorola ATRIX is easily the best Motorola phone to come about in recent years and it is expected to be made available to customers sometime this year. After that, it will once again elevate Motorola's status to the top of the tree. It is also the first phone apart from the LG Optimus 2X that is set make it into the UK.
The Motorola ATRIX has a 4 inch display that is capable of supporting a mind-boggling resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. This 4 inch touch screen display can, not only be the best possible screen for movies and browsing, but it will also be the best screen for showing off to your friends. Such is the incredible contrast levels and colour reproduction that this display is capable of. Since it is a capacitive touch screen, it can accommodate multi-touch gestures. The phone has a mind-boggling 1 GB of RAM, which comes in an age when 512 MB of RAM is standard. 16GB of internal storage is available and you can upgrade this memory to a maximum of 48 GB using memory cards.
One of the unique features of the Atrix is its peripheral docking ports. A laptop dock is available which can transform the Atrix into a fully-fledged laptop with its own operating system, WebTop. It can also be combined with a media dock, effectively turning the Atrix into a multimedia hub.
The Atrix also comes with a 5 megapixel camera with 720p video recording available. The Atrix will ship with Android 2.2 (Froyo) but will be upgradeable to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. With this OS update the camera will be able to support 1080p video recording. In conjunction with the HDMI port and DLNA enabled Wi-Fi this will allow Atrix users to record high quality videos and then watch them back directly from their home TV.
The Atrix comes with YouTube support out of the box amongst other Google services, including Gmail, Google Talk and Google Maps. With Adobe Flash 10.1 support the Atrix also allows video streaming from other video websites besides YouTube. There are excellent multimedia options available for music and video stored on the phone itself and an FM radio is also present for you to listen to the latest music from your favourite radio station.
DLNA and 3G are the two main connectivity features in this new phone from Motorola. They more than sufficiently do the job of both getting content and transferring them to other devices wirelessly. Such high levels of features will most likely be resulting in poor battery life in other phones. However, the Motorola ATRIX does not suffer from this kind of problem because it has a 1930 mAh battery. Despite having so many features, this battery is good enough for up to 9 hours of talk time.
