Motorola Motokey Social Is A Fascinating Device
Motorola is jumping onto on social phone bandwagon as well
, confirmed as the Motorola Motokey Social. It was previously rumored that Motorola was preparing a social networking phone, but Motorola finally confirmed the device on Motorolas Mobility website. Furthermore, there is a 2.4-inch TFT LCD touchscreen displaying 320 x 240 pixels. However, it runs on Motorolas proprietary platform.
Here we are, given all the means to socialize, navigate and use the phone with only one device. Motorola Motoky Social is not the first smartphone to invite us on Facebook, but as we can see the list is beginning to get bigger, according to our needs. The Motokey Social brings us closer to Twitter, Gmail and Facebook, though without enjoying Cha Chas fame from HTC. Not yet, anyway. Lets see what it can offer in the test performed by our team.
Motorola Smartphone features
With a full QWERTY keyboard and 2.4-inch touchscreen display, the Motorola Motokey Social smartphone offers comfortable, intuitive operation and easy text entry. At less than 10mm thin, the ultra-slim Motorola smartphone fits easily into your palm, pocket or purse. The Motorola Motokey Social also has five different home screens, two interface themes and built in links to Facebook, Twitter and other popular social networking sites, an Opera Mini browser and e-mail service.
QWERTY keyboard
Apparently, not much at a first look, featuring a 2.4 inch QVGA touchscreen display and an OS that is not Android, but the companys own platform. The 3 megapixel camera is not that great either, but after all not everyone looks for a great camera on a phone. In test it can capture decent pictures with a resolution of 20481536 pixels.
We liked the QWERTY keyboard, which always comes in handy for fast typing, avoiding any possible latencies the on-screen keyboards have. The dedicated Facebook key stands in the left lower corner, ready to launch you directly on your profile, where you can do the usual things, like sharing photos, keeping in touch with friends or just scrolling through the last updates. All this only a button push away, while the internet connection works as desired.

This Motorola Motokey Social cell phone consist of 105.5x60x9.9 mm dimensions and it is 87g in weight.

This Motorola Motokey Social mobile consist of standard Li-Lon 910mAh battery. It included Stand by time up to 672h; talking time is up to 8.15h. Its very powerful battery.

It includes vibrations, MP3, ring tones and 3.5 mm mobile sound enhancement jack. Loudspeaker is available.

For connectivity, the device features high speed 3G and WiFi options, an USB port and also Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP.The battery life is good: the Li-Ion 910mAh battery is said to last up to 8 hours talk time and 672 hours stand by time, which is not very bad after all. Well have to see though how it will handle staying on Facebook most of the time, as we guess this will be the phones main use.
The Motokey Social has a rectangular design and a sturdy look. The keyboard is all right, almost all keys share the same size, except the space bar which occupies the place of four small keys. The rear of the phone is simple.
Among its good features we can mention that the device is both thin and light, it is only 9.9mm thick and weighs 87 grams. It is a bit large however, for the sake of the keyboard, but thats a fair compromise when you think of its benefits.Motorola Motokey Social operates on dual 2G & 3G networks, has 64MB of RAM x 128MB of ROM and only 50MB of storage memory. But the memory can be expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card. We have to admit that weve seen bigger figures with other smartphones, so the Motokey Social doesnt stand on a solid ground. It has some limitations that some may care for and others just ignore and enjoy the lower price

The Motorola Motokey Social handset will be available November 21 for Telus Prepaid customers and carries a retail price of $89.99.
