The casting calls are either open or sometimes formal where only limited persons are invited. In case of an open call, there will be a lot of persons who will attend the occasion. The best way you can ensure to be an exception from the rest of the attendants is through delivering your headshot and resume to the casting agent or director in advance. This is not a necessity but will make you an exception.

In many movie casting calls, you will need to have a good understanding of the script of the movie. Take time reading the play; not just the character you want to act but also other characters in the movie. A good understanding of the whole play is generally essential since you will have a good understanding of the way different characters are relating to the particular character. This gives you ability to improvise and emulate the exact emotions facing the character in the story. You don't really require knowing all parts of the script at the audition but you will require having some clue of the script.
