There's so much to do when preparing to relocate

. You've had garage sales, cleared out clutter, boxed and labeled everything and are finally packed up and ready to go. While you may feel that you've gotten everything together and are ready to get to your new home, there are a number of details to think about on the big day. By following a few tips, you're sure to make your moving experience a great one.

Have cash handy

Moving is hard work. So if you convinced friends to help or hired a company, it's a nice touch to have snacks and drinks available for all their efforts. Also, once the job's complete companies expect payment. Save time and reduce stress by having money available before hand. Also, if you had workers that went above and beyond what was required of them, having cash also allows you to tip everyone for a job well done.

Remember directions

One of the most common things people forget on moving day is directions to the new location. There's so much concern over packing up items, that many times, people have an entire truck loaded up with no where to go. Make sure everyone has clear directions on how to get to the new location ahead of time. Also, avoid having people follow you since this can result in even more confusion if someone gets lost.

Keep an inventory list

So much will be going on the big day, so it's vital that you keep an inventory of all your items. It doesn't matter if you're moving in or out, it's a good idea to have a list handy so you can make sure nothing gets left behind. When working with a company, they will usually refer to this list as well as provide one for you to review and confirm.

Consider parking

Whether you're having friends and family help you with your relocation or hired a professional company, don't forget to think about parking. When people are loading and unloading items from a truck, they shouldn't have to walk back and forth long distances each time they carry something. So make sure the truck has ample parking close to your home so the process can flow faster and smoother. A good way to do this is to let your neighbors know you're moving and they may be more obliged to let you use the parking spaces on the curb in front of their homes.
