It is always a chore when you need to move to a new home or office. This is partly due to the many things that need to be taken care of, such as packing, organizing for mover trucks, loading the trucks with the belongings, doing the actual moving, unloading the truck and unpacking, and finally settling in to the new location. On the surface it is a rather complicated set of tasks, however if you plan in advance and break the job into manageable tasks, you will be up and moving in no time and you will even get to enjoy the process.

The main reason why people find the whole moving thing complex and unmanageable is because they effectively wait until the very last moment to organize the move and go through with it. Procrastination is a major contributor to headaches and stress during a move. What you need to do is start early on, from the moment you know that you will be moving location, whether because you are selling your home, or because you are changing office.

You need to make an initial list of everything that needs to be done, and this will include all the packing materials, the moving truck companies you will contact for the move, the helpers that you will need with packing or unpacking, and everything else in between. You should actually keep a separate list of things you need to do and people and companies you need to contact with regards to the move.

The next thing you have to start thinking about is packing. Before you start packing though, you have to get all the packing supplies ready and available to you so that when the packing time comes, you don't run out of boxes or packing tape. You can either buy new boxes or get cheap ones, or even free ones, if you know where to look. There are many good online places where you can find free packing boxes for moving and let's not forget your local supermarket, bookstore or hardware store. Many will be glad to let you have some of their good and non-damaged boxes for free. All you need to do is go pick them up yourself.

When you do the packing, make sure to pack everything the right way. You don't want to use huge boxes for tiny items as they can break during transit. You should place items that fit right in the box once separately packed up. Of course you can always hire a crew do to the packing and moving for you, however you have to know how much it will cost, as you will incur extra expenses if you use these people. But if you have the money, you can save yourself the trouble and headaches of doing it all on your own!

To save money during the move you might want to use one way moving truck rentals so you don't have to return the truck to the initial location.
