Sunday morning was where we left off last time when we talked about the breakdown and how we got the combine but back together. We then loaded the combine on the lowboy trailer and unhooked it. That way Matt, my truck driver and my son Jonathan could just back under the trailer with the semi when they get back from taking the hopper bottom trailer to Hobart Ok. and wouldn't need help loading it.
They unhooked the hopper bottom trailer at a camp site just east of town. They then drove empty back to Walters to get the lowboy with the combine on it.
I drove the tractor and grain cart on the road to Hobart because we didn't have two trucks and trailers the first year. With the fast road gear that is in the tractor, I could drive it to the next job faster than I could make another trip with the semi. Donna followed with the pickup and the draper head.
Donna and I got to Hobart with the tractor and grain cart and the draper head. Matt and Jonathan got back from making the second trip to Walters, bringing the combine about the same time we got there. I unloaded the combine off the lowboy so Matt could unhooked the trailer from the semi and pick up the hopper bottom that he left on the east end of town earlier.
We got directions to the wheat field that we were going to cut. We put the draper head on the combine, Matt came with the semi and hopper bottom. We were ready to start our second job on the wheat harvest.
We didn't have the camper moved yet, so Donna rode with me in the combine until we quit that night and drove back to Walters to the campers. We stayed there that night and moved the campers to Hobart the next morning. Thanks for reading, hope you come back again.
I will have more next week. Come back again. Bye for now Danny!
